Surah Taha Ayat 121 Translation Tafseer

Para 16 - قَالَ اَلَمْ

سورة طه

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

20.121

فَاَكَلَا مِنْهَا فَبَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْاٰتُهُمَا وَ طَفِقَا یَخْصِفٰنِ عَلَیْهِمَا مِنْ وَّرَقِ الْجَنَّةِ٘-وَ عَصٰۤى اٰدَمُ رَبَّهٗ فَغَوٰى۪ۖ (121)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

They both ate from it, then their concealed parts became exposed, and they began to cover themselves with the leaves of Paradise; and Ādam misjudged the command of his Lord,[1] so he did not attain what he had sought.

Commentary

In terms of the outward and apparent, disobedience was attributed to Prophet Ādam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام, but in reality, the action that was carried out by Prophet Ādam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام was not a sin, as mentioned above. However, disobedience was attributed to Prophet Ādam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام from an ostensible perspective because he عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام did, in fact, eat from the tree, even though it was unintended. It is not permissible to attribute sin to Prophet Ādam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام unless there is a religious requirement, for example, when reciting the Quran or Hadith.
